Effect of Aggression in children with ADHD on the Mental Health Literacy of Caregivers

Abstract

Objective : This study is to investigate the degree of effect of ADHD children's aggression on the caregiver's mental health literacy and to provide basic knowledge of the caregiver's mental health literacy that can affect ADHD children's intervention in occupational treatment. Methods : It was analyzed through a survey on the caregivers of ADHD children visiting the Child Development Center. In the case of data collection, 155 copies were finally selected and analyzed, excluding 45 copies of the questionnaire of the middle waiver, missing sheet, and refusal to write. The independent variable consisted of aggression of ADHD children, the dependent variable consisted of the caregiver's mental health status, and the control variable consisted of general characteristics. Results : As a result, first, there were significnat differences in metal health literacy of caregivers according to general characteristics in age, duration of occurrence of children, and economic level. Second, there was no significant difference in the mental health status of the caregiver according to the aggression area of ADHD children. Third, there was a significant effect of aggression in ADHD children on the mental health literacy of caregivers. Conclusion : The increase in ADHD children is predicted to increase socio-phenomenologically, and aggression in ADHD children can negatively affect the mental health literacy of caregivers. Therefore, the need for intervention in occupational therapy to alleviate aggression in ADHD children increases, and social support and efforts are needed to improve and restore the mental health literacy of caregivers.
