Effects of Physical Activity, Sleep, Mental Health on Quality of Life in the Elderly with Stroke

Abstract

Objective : The purpose of this study was to analyze how physical activity, sleep, and mental health, which are generally seen in elderly stroke patients, affect the quality of life of individual patients and to provide basic data for the development of a community rehabilitation intervention program. Methods : We analyzed the amount of physical activity, quality of sleep, stress, and quality of life through a questionnaire targeting elderly stroke patients using welfare facilities for the disabled, and confirmed the correlation between variables. We also conducted a regression analysis to analyze the effects of physical activity, quality of sleep, and stress on quality of life. Results : The results of this study were as follows: First, there were significant differences in gender, education level, and economic level in comparing the general characteristics of elderly stroke patients. Second, there was a significant correlation in comparing the correlation between the quality of life of elderly stroke patients and physical activity, sleep, and mental health. Third, the physical activity, sleep, and mental health of elderly stroke patients affected the quality of life. Conclusion : For stroke patients who experience difficulties in the form of physical, mental, social, and environmental burdens, prevention is the most important, and after the onset, we should do our best to use accurate basic data to provide intervention and rehabilitation to improve the quality of life.
