Objective : This study analyzed time use and volition across occupational areas among the MZ generation to provide foundational data for understanding healthy lifestyles and occupational balance. Methods : The Occupational Questionnaire was administered to 200 young adults in Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province. Descriptive statistics and independent t-tests examined differences by gender and generation. Open-ended activity responses were organized according to participant-selected occupational areas. Results : No significant gender differences were found in overall time use or volition, whereas generational differences were identified. Millennials spent more time in work, while Generation Z allocated more time to recreation. For volition, significant generational differences were found in personal causation for activities of daily living and rest, and in value across work, activities of daily living, recreation, and rest. Generation Z showed relatively higher personal causation in activities of daily living and rest and placed higher value on work, activities of daily living, and rest, whereas Millennials placed higher value on recreation. Conclusion : Gender differences in occupational participation tended to be attenuated, while time use and volition differed by generation. These findings highlight the need to understand the Korean MZ generation within generational life contexts and subjective perceptions of occupations.

Objective : This study longitudinally analyzed the multidimensional factors affecting the maintenance and loss of community mobility independence in Korean older adults. It aims to suggest preventive occupational therapy interventions that support a healthy later life by maintaining this independence. Methods : An analysis was conducted on 471 older adults aged 65 and older using raw data from waves 1 to 9 of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing (KLOSA). Based on a community mobility model, participatory, physical, psychosocial, environmental, and economic factors were set as independent variables. Survival analysis was performed using the Cox proportional hazards model. Results : During the follow-up period, 29.1% (137 participants) of the subjects experienced limitations in community mobility independence. Higher scores in instrumental activities of daily living (IADL), increased grip strength, and frequent contact with friends were identified as protective factors that significantly reduced the risk of mobility restriction. Conversely, joint disease, cerebrovascular disease, and a history of falls were found to increase the risk. Environmental and economic factors were not statistically significant. Conclusion : Community mobility independence in older adults is closely associated not only with physical function but also with IADL performance and the formation of social networks. To proactively prevent functional decline, comprehensive occupational therapy intervention strategies are needed to promote maintaining grip strength, preventing falls, and encouraging occupational participation within the community.

Objective : This study examined the effects of telehealth-based parent training on social communication and daily living skills in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Methods : A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials published from 2013 through October 2025 was conducted.PubMed, Google Scholar, Cochrane Library, CINAHL Plus with Full Text, Embase, RISS, KISS, and DBpia were searched. Quality and risk of bias were assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool and PEDro scale. Pooled effect sizes and heterogeneity were calculated, and publication bias was examined using a funnel plot and the trim-and-fill method. Results : Four studies were included, all scoring ≥7 on the PEDro scale. The total sample comprised 55 participants in the intervention groups and 52 in the control groups. The overall effect was large but not statistically significant (Hedges’ *g* = 0.921, 95% CI = −0.182 to 2.025, *p* = 0.102). Social communication also showed a large but nonsignificant effect (Hedges’ *g* = 1.008, 95% CI = −0.04 to 2.06, *p* = 0.060), whereas daily living skills showed a significant moderate effect (Hedges’ *g* = 0.424, 95% CI = 0.02 to 0.83, *p* = 0.042). Heterogeneity was high overall (Q = 26.751, I² = 88.79%) and for social communication (Q = 38.89, I² = 89.7%), but absent for daily living skills (Q = 2.68, I² = 0.0%). Funnel plot asymmetry was partly observed, but the direction of the effect remained unchanged after trim-and-fill adjustment. Conclusion : The findings suggest that telehealth-based parent training programs may positively affect social communication and daily living skills in children with ASD. However, the results should be interpreted cautiously because of the small number of included studies and the high heterogeneity observed in social communication outcomes. In future clinical practice, telehealth-based parent training may be implemented independently or alongside existing interventions, considering the child’s developmental level and the family’s environmental context. These findings may provide preliminary evidence supporting the expansion of home-based telerehabilitation services in community occupational therapy settings.

Objective : This study aims to identify the level of anxiety perceived by artificial intelligence technology among occupational therapists working in nursing hospitals and to empirically investigate the effect of such artificial intelligence anxiety on their job stress. And through this, we intend to provide basic theoretical data on future job stress relief measures required in clinical settings Methods : This study was designed as a cross-sectional survey to empirically analyze the relationship between anxiety and job stress related to the adoption of medical artificial intelligence (AI) technology among 154 occupational therapists employed in long-term care hospitals over a two-month period starting in December 2025. Among the subcategories of anxiety related to artificial intelligence, anxiety about learning artificial intelligence, anxiety about the replacement of jobs by artificial intelligence, anxiety related to socio-technical ignorance, and anxiety about the form of artificial intelligence were designated as independent variables. And job stress was set as the dependent variable. Causality was verified through multiple regression analysis. Results : The job stress of occupational therapists in long-term care hospitals was found to be significantly influenced by anxiety over AI learning and anxiety over AI replacing jobs with an explanatory power of 32.3%, while it was found not to affect anxiety over sociotechnical ignorance and anxiety over the portrayal of AI. Conclusion : For the successful establishment of medical AI technology and a qualitative leap in occupational therapy clinical practice, it is necessary to avoid the one-sided top-down adoption of technology and instead adopt a gradual approach that deeply considers clinicians’ psychological receptiveness. To this end, occupational therapists, as rehabilitation professionals, need to continuously develop advanced expertise that requires uniquely human, complex reasoning and deep empathy, as demonstrated in cognitive and neurological rehabilitation conducted with long-term care hospital patients. It is also considered necessary to conduct a longitudinal cohort study that will track, over the long term, changes in occupational therapists’ job satisfaction and stress before and after the introduction of artificial intelligence related to future work.

Objective : The purpose is to identify the general characteristics, oxygen saturation levels, and cognitive function scores of elderly individuals according to their smoking status, demonstrate the clinical importance of smoking cessation for their oxygen saturation and cognitive function, and provide academic baseline data for the future development of community-based dementia prevention education and tailored smoking cessation intervention programs for high-risk groups. Methods : This study was conducted from January to February 2026 with 108 elderly residents of the community selected as participants. Descriptive statistics were performed for the elderly’s major variables, and differences in oxygen saturation and cognitive function according to smoking status were analyzed using one-way ANOVA. An analysis of the association among major variables was conducted. An eta(η) coefficient was calculated between the categorical variable smoking status and the continuous variables oxygen saturation and cognitive function scores, and Pearson correlation analysis was conducted between the two continuous variables, oxygen saturation and cognitive function scores. The effects of smoking status on oxygen saturation and cognitive function were analyzed using multiple regression analysis. Results : Statistically significant differences were observed among the groups based on smoking status for both oxygen saturation(F=14.45, p<.001) and cognitive function scores(F=17.45, p<.001). Post hoc analysis showed that oxygen saturation was significantly higher in non-smokers (96.5%) and former smokers (96.2%) than in current smokers (93.2%), and cognitive function scores were higher in non-smokers (25.6), former smokers (23.4), and current smokers (21.1), respectively. The association analysis showed a strong association between smoking status and oxygen saturation and cognitive function scores, and the multiple regression analysis identified smoking status as a major related factor that has a significant negative effect on oxygen saturation and cognitive function. Conclusion : Smoking in the elderly creates a chronic low-oxygen environment in the body, adversely affecting brain tissue and becoming a key factor in promoting cognitive decline. And in the case of ‘Former smokers’ there was a tendency for oxygen saturation and cognitive function to be partially preserved. Therefore, in community dementia prevention and management programs, smoking cessation among the elderly should be treated as an essential intervention factor, and, in addition to smoking cessation programs, tailored cognitive rehabilitation interventions such as occupational therapy to maintain daily living functions should be provided concurrently.

Objective : This study aimed to review systematically task-oriented interventions targeting upper limb function in stroke patients and to compare and analyze the differences between interventions conducted in hospital and community settings. Methods : Literature researches were performed using the PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases with the following key words: ("stroke" OR "brain attack") AND ("upper limb" OR "upper extremity") AND (“task oriented” OR “task related” OR “task-oriented”) AND ("intervention" OR "program" OR "rehabilitation" OR "therapy"). A total of 33 studies was included. Results : In hospital settings, task-oriented interventions were primarily conducted with acute and subacute stroke, most frequently as stand-alone interventions, followed by interventions combined with other therapies. In community settings, interventions were mainly conducted with electrical stimulation. Among the included studies, those reporting significant improvements in both pre-post comparisons and comparisons between experimental and control groups were predominantly task-oriented interventions combined with other therapies, regardless of the setting. Conclusion : This study reviewed systematically that task-oriented interventions improved upper limb function in stroke patients. Task-oriented interventions, especially with other therapies, are effective in both hospital and community settings.

Objective : This study aimed to provide basic data for occupational therapy intervention programs to prevent social isolation through holistic rehabilitation of brain injury patients by identifying the degree of depression and anxiety experienced by brain injury patients and the effect of these psychological factors on social participation. Methods : From December 2024 to August 2025, a direct survey was conducted on 124 brain injury patients, and based on the data obtained, descriptive statistics of frequency analysis were applied to the general characteristics of the subjects, and independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA were applied to compare social participation according to the general characteristics of brain injury patients. Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to find out the correlation between depression, anxiety, and social participation in brain injury patients, and the effects of depression and anxiety on social participation in brain injury patients were analyzed by applying multiple regression analysis. Results : The results of this study were as follow: First, in the comparison of social participation according to the general characteristics of brain injury patients, there were significant differences in brain injury type (p=.001), rehabilitation period (p=.000), and economic level (p=.000), and there were some differences in gender, age, and educational background, but there were no significant differences. Second, in the comparison of the correlation between depression and anxiety and social participation in brain injury patients, there was a significant negative (-) correlation between depression and social participation, and anxiety and social participation. Third, both depression and anxiety were found to have a significant difference on the effect of psychological variables of brain injury patients on social participation. Conclusion : This study was conducted to investigate the effect of depression and anxiety, which are psychological variables of brain injury patients, on social participation. It was confirmed that depression and anxiety experienced by brain injury patients had a significant difference on the degree of social participation. Specifically, it was found that the lower the degree of depression and anxiety, the more active the patients’ social interaction and community return.

Objective : This study aimed to examine the effects of activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) on wages among employee with physical and brain lesion disabilities, and to explore empirically structural wage differentials by disability type. Methods : Data were obtained from the 8th wave (2023) of the second Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled (PSED). A total of 1,070 wage workers with either a physical or brain lesion disability was included in the final analysis. Independent t-tests, chi-square tests, Pearson correlation analyses, and multiple linear regression analyses were conducted sequentially. Results : Employee with physical disabilities exhibited significantly higher log wages and ADL levels than those with brain lesion disabilities. Pearson correlation analyses revealed that ADL levels were positively correlated with log wages, whereas IADL dependence was negatively correlated with log wages. Multiple linear regression analyses showed that higher ADL scores were positively associated with log wages (B=0.132, p<.001), whereas greater IADL dependence (B=-0.072, p<.001) and having a brain lesion disability (B=-0.085, p=.015) were negatively associated with log wages. The adjusted R² of the model was .113. Conclusion : These findings demonstrated that ADL, IADL, and disability type were critical determinants of wage levels among employee with physical and brain lesion disabilities. From an occupational therapy perspective, ADL- and IADL-focused interventions designed to specific job demands, alongside comprehensive environmental accommodations, were essential strategies for promoting economic independence among people with disabilities. In addition, the wage disadvantages of the brain lesion disorder group, which appeared even after controlling ADL and IADL, suggested the need for detailed policy interventions to alleviate the structural gap in the labor market according to the type of disability.
