Objectives : The Purpose of this study was to develop the occupation based grocery shopping skill training program for group of person with developmental disability and to test its effect. Methods : We set the grocery shopping task for the theme of the program and we applied this program for 9 sessions. There were initial, final, and follow-up evaluation and training sessions were provided 6 times. In the every session, group training program for grocery shopping skills was conducted. The performance of grocery shopping skills was evaluated by Test of Grocery Shopping Skills(TOGSS). Results : At the final assessment of grocery shopping skill, there were increased performance skills especially in item collection and size comparison. Among 3 subjects, two showed in improved navigation skills in order to search for target items. However, there was no improvement in comparing the optical price of items. For the last, it was significant that the total time to spend for shopping were commonly decreased. The performance of grocery shopping were maintained in 2 subjects and another subject was unable to perform it at the 5 month later follow-up evaluation. Conclusion : The occupation based grocery shopping skill training group program which was developed in this study is useful guide-line for occupational therapists who seek for the community based program. All 3 subjects showed the improved performance on shopping skill through this program.

Objectives : This study was conducted to investigate the activity of the supra and infrahyoid muscles according to the temperature and the amount of water in healthy adults. Methods : The amount of water was set to 3 mL and 20 mL, and the temperature was subdivided into 4 ℃, 22 ℃, and 40 ℃ in order to compare the activity of the supra and infrahyoid muscles in twenty-seven healthy adults. We used the mean value of the activity of the supra and infrahyoid muscles while they were swallowing saliva in order to set the reference voluntary contraction (%RVC). Results : Muscle activity was significantly increased when they swallowed 20 mL of water rather than 3 mL in the left infrahyoid muscles at 4 ℃, 22 ℃ and 40 ℃ (p=.00; p=.00; p=.00), the right infrahyoid muscles at 22 ℃and 40 ℃ (p=.01; p=.01), the left suprahyoid muscles at 4 ℃ (p=.03). Muscle activity of the right suprahyoid muscles was significantly decreased at 40 ℃ compared to 4 ℃ and 22 ℃ when they swallowed 20 mL of water (p=.04). Conclusion : In the future, other variables such as viscosity and taste should be considered, and further studies on patients with impaired nervous system as well as healthy subjects will be needed.

Objective : This study was to find out the level of sensory process type, adult attachment and interpersonal problems on university students and then to investigate the correlation. Methods : For this study, 169 students who don`t know about the evaluation tool in university students of K area in Korea were participated. To execute evaluation, Adolescents/Adults Sensory Profile (AASP) was used for the sensory process type, Short Form of the Korean Inventory of Interpersonal Problems Circumplex Scale (KIIP-SC) was used for interpersonal problems, and Experiences in Close Relationships Scale-Revised (ECR-R) was used for the adult attachment. The correlation between sensory process type and interpersonal problems, adult attachment was analyzed by using pearson correlation analysis. Results : Sensory process type of university students appeared that sensory seeking was lower than general people, and the rest of items showed similar results with general people. For interpersonal problems, there was a lot of difficulty in self-sacrificing and overly accommodating, whereas there was a little difficulty in vindictive and domineering / controlling. For adult attachment, attachment avoiding was more stable than attachment anxiety. Also, low registration and sensory sensitivity all showed positive correlation with interpersonal problems and adult attachment. Among interpersonal problems, self-sacrificing and intrusive showed positive correlation with sensory seeking whereas cold, socially inhibited, nonassertive, and overly accommodating showed positive correlation with sensory avoiding. Thus, sensory seeking and sensory avoiding showed different results (p<.05). Conclusion : In occupational therapy clinic, not only the disabled but non-disabled people that experience issue of interpersonal problems and attachment could be helped with managing high quality social activity if they execute intervention according to sensory process type.

Objective : This study was to learn the Korean Occupational Therapists’ awareness and current state of implement of Occupation-Based Practice and to use it as a baseline data. Methods : After 300 Korean clinical occupational therapists were conveniently sampled, the structured 293 questionnaires were released, the answered 293 questionnaires were analyzed. Results : Awareness of OBP was 5.7 points on average and the awareness, increased with age and clinical experience. The opportunity that Occupational Therapists know OBP was through major subjects, articles & seminars, through peers and so on. The differences depended on age, level of education, location of work, clinical experience. 152 Occupational therapists(52.8%) answered that they apply OBP in their clinical work. There was no significant difference in the use of OBP based on gender, age, clinical experience, education background with exception of work location. It was shown that during practice,The most frequently used OBP was as follow in order: interview, practice, goal setting, assessment and documentation. The goal of using OBP was to find out a meaningful occupation for client’s living, to promote client’s participation in family or community , to treat for function recovery of clients. The biggest difficulty faced during OBP was lack of understanding of OBP for the clients and their guardian. Other difficulties were limitations of treatment environment, lack of occupational instruments, related knowledge, utilization method, preparation time and difficulty in handling insurance and medical expenses in order. Conclusion : Level of awareness of OBP was at intermediate level and it was related to education level and treatment environment. Based on this result, it is need to support institutional and academical discusstion in order to promote OBP.

Objective : This study is to provide basic data for hospice occupational therapy and to develop hospice occupational therapy curriculum in Korea. Methods : 45 articles were selected from CINAHL, MEDLINE, and Scopus, which were published from 1980 to 2013. The selected articles were analyzed in term of study year, study source, author's characteristics, study subjects, and study designs. Results : The number of studies have increased steadily since the 1980's. A total of 21 research journals was published, and the most highest published journals were American Journal of Occupational Therapy. Qualitative research methodology was employed four times more than quantitative research methodology. Interventions included various formats such as crafts, ADLs trainings, relaxation techniques, care giver educations and applications of spirituality. The doing-being-becoming theoretical framework and the model of human occupation applied to hospice or palliative patients as a theoretical foundation. Conclusion : Hospice occupational therapy has been developed along with hospice and palliative medicine. There also appeared to be a balance on both clinical trials and researches The hospce occupational therapy care has being studied deeply with various topic. More efforts on curriculum developments as well as clinical advances pertinent to the palliative care should be proceed to warrant making the start of the hospice and palliative occupational therapy in Korea.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of vestibular stimulation activity on visual perception. Methods : A total of 58 healthy adults in chungnam was participated in this study. I divided into the total 3 groups and studied. Group A was no vestibular stimulation, they sat on general chair and performed the visual perception task. Group B and C sat on general chair and ball chair respectively, after vestibular stimulation activity and they performed visual perception task. I measured the visual perception task with the time. Results : There was a significant difference between Group A and B and C. There was no significant difference between group B and C. Conclusion : The result shows that the vestibular stimulation activity is effective for an improvement in visual perception.

Objective : The study was to find out the effect of sleep disorder bt melatonin when we applied the evironmental change to rats wirh sleep disorder. Methods : We performed the study in lab which is located in Gyungbuk. We divided 26 rats into two groups. The experimental group had the environmental change for 3 days. The control group didn't have the change. We checked the level of melatonin of each group. Results : There was a significant difference of the level of melatonin in experimental group after applying the environmental change for 3 days (p=.000). The level of melatonin was increased a little for 3 each day in control group, but there was no significance(p=.212). There was a significant difference of the level of melatonin in both groups before and after applying the environmental change. However, the level of melatonin was increased significantly in experimental group, and the level was decreased significantly in control group. Conclusion : The patients with sleep disorder are increasing in modern society. We made a animal model with sleep disorder to find out the effect of the environmental change. We applied the environment like human's and could know the improvement effect of sleep disorder.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to estimate the reliability of cervical range of motion measurement in healthy adults using smart phone application and goniometer that can be easily applicated in clinical setting. Methods : The cervical range of motion was measured as the flexion, extension, right rotation, left rotation, right lateral flexion, and left lateral flexion. To measure the reliability of intra-rater and inter-rater reliability, the same examiner performed two measurements and the other examiner performed once, total measurement were performed three times. The order of tests was randomized and two examiners didn't know the results of measurements. Results : Thirty healthy adults were participated. The result of this study shows that there were are no significant differences in all movements except the right lateral flexion in comparison of average angle of smart phone application and goniometer. The intra-rater reliability of smart phone application and goniometer showed ICC as .841∼.958 and the inter-rater reliability showed ICC as .720∼.944 for all movements. Conclusion : These results suggest that smart phone application and goniometer have proven to be reliable in measuring the cervical range of motion. Smart phone application can be used as a useful tool in clinical setting due to fast and accurate measurements of cervical range of motion.

Objective : The aims of this study was to investigate the effects of modified constraint induced movement therapy(CIMT) on upper extremities function of children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy. Methods : The participants of this study are 4 children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy aged between 8 to 11 years old. During the modified CIMT period, the unaffected hand of the subjects was restrained by a hand splint for 8 weeks, five days per week, five hours a day. And the affected upper extremity was strongly trained by performing functional tasks, which were individually structured use of the affected arm. Measurements used to assess hand function are Jebsen Hand Function Test, and 3D Motion Analysis. The Jebsen Hand Function Test was performed repeatedly every two weeks. The 3D Motion Analysis was performed before and after the 8 weeks of modified constraint induced movement therapy. Results : After the modified CIMT, there was a significant improvement in completed time for the 6 tasks of Jebsen Hand Function Test(p<.05). 3D Motion Analysis was that the finger tapping and the hand tapping has been significantly decreased (p<.05), and the pronation-supination movement has been significantly increased as well(p<.05). Conclusion : In the results of this study, it is evidenced that modified CIMT is effective treatment for upper extremities function of children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy. For future research, it is recommended to examine various periods and protocol of modified CIMT including impact of long periods application.
