Objective : This study is to provide basic data for hospice occupational therapy and to develop hospice occupational therapy curriculum in Korea. Methods : 45 articles were selected from CINAHL, MEDLINE, and Scopus, which were published from 1980 to 2013. The selected articles were analyzed in term of study year, study source, author's characteristics, study subjects, and study designs. Results : The number of studies have increased steadily since the 1980's. A total of 21 research journals was published, and the most highest published journals were American Journal of Occupational Therapy. Qualitative research methodology was employed four times more than quantitative research methodology. Interventions included various formats such as crafts, ADLs trainings, relaxation techniques, care giver educations and applications of spirituality. The doing-being-becoming theoretical framework and the model of human occupation applied to hospice or palliative patients as a theoretical foundation. Conclusion : Hospice occupational therapy has been developed along with hospice and palliative medicine. There also appeared to be a balance on both clinical trials and researches The hospce occupational therapy care has being studied deeply with various topic. More efforts on curriculum developments as well as clinical advances pertinent to the palliative care should be proceed to warrant making the start of the hospice and palliative occupational therapy in Korea.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of vestibular stimulation activity on visual perception. Methods : A total of 58 healthy adults in chungnam was participated in this study. I divided into the total 3 groups and studied. Group A was no vestibular stimulation, they sat on general chair and performed the visual perception task. Group B and C sat on general chair and ball chair respectively, after vestibular stimulation activity and they performed visual perception task. I measured the visual perception task with the time. Results : There was a significant difference between Group A and B and C. There was no significant difference between group B and C. Conclusion : The result shows that the vestibular stimulation activity is effective for an improvement in visual perception.

Objective : The study was to find out the effect of sleep disorder bt melatonin when we applied the evironmental change to rats wirh sleep disorder. Methods : We performed the study in lab which is located in Gyungbuk. We divided 26 rats into two groups. The experimental group had the environmental change for 3 days. The control group didn't have the change. We checked the level of melatonin of each group. Results : There was a significant difference of the level of melatonin in experimental group after applying the environmental change for 3 days (p=.000). The level of melatonin was increased a little for 3 each day in control group, but there was no significance(p=.212). There was a significant difference of the level of melatonin in both groups before and after applying the environmental change. However, the level of melatonin was increased significantly in experimental group, and the level was decreased significantly in control group. Conclusion : The patients with sleep disorder are increasing in modern society. We made a animal model with sleep disorder to find out the effect of the environmental change. We applied the environment like human's and could know the improvement effect of sleep disorder.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to estimate the reliability of cervical range of motion measurement in healthy adults using smart phone application and goniometer that can be easily applicated in clinical setting. Methods : The cervical range of motion was measured as the flexion, extension, right rotation, left rotation, right lateral flexion, and left lateral flexion. To measure the reliability of intra-rater and inter-rater reliability, the same examiner performed two measurements and the other examiner performed once, total measurement were performed three times. The order of tests was randomized and two examiners didn't know the results of measurements. Results : Thirty healthy adults were participated. The result of this study shows that there were are no significant differences in all movements except the right lateral flexion in comparison of average angle of smart phone application and goniometer. The intra-rater reliability of smart phone application and goniometer showed ICC as .841∼.958 and the inter-rater reliability showed ICC as .720∼.944 for all movements. Conclusion : These results suggest that smart phone application and goniometer have proven to be reliable in measuring the cervical range of motion. Smart phone application can be used as a useful tool in clinical setting due to fast and accurate measurements of cervical range of motion.

Objective : The aims of this study was to investigate the effects of modified constraint induced movement therapy(CIMT) on upper extremities function of children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy. Methods : The participants of this study are 4 children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy aged between 8 to 11 years old. During the modified CIMT period, the unaffected hand of the subjects was restrained by a hand splint for 8 weeks, five days per week, five hours a day. And the affected upper extremity was strongly trained by performing functional tasks, which were individually structured use of the affected arm. Measurements used to assess hand function are Jebsen Hand Function Test, and 3D Motion Analysis. The Jebsen Hand Function Test was performed repeatedly every two weeks. The 3D Motion Analysis was performed before and after the 8 weeks of modified constraint induced movement therapy. Results : After the modified CIMT, there was a significant improvement in completed time for the 6 tasks of Jebsen Hand Function Test(p<.05). 3D Motion Analysis was that the finger tapping and the hand tapping has been significantly decreased (p<.05), and the pronation-supination movement has been significantly increased as well(p<.05). Conclusion : In the results of this study, it is evidenced that modified CIMT is effective treatment for upper extremities function of children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy. For future research, it is recommended to examine various periods and protocol of modified CIMT including impact of long periods application.

Objective : The main purpose of this study was to analyze factors affecting a health related quality of life(HRQOL) in the elderly stroke patients with(Group 1) or without(Group 2) sequela. Methods : This survey performed secondary analysis with 'the fifth korea national health and nutrition examination survey', and investigated 91 elderly stroke patients over 65 years. Results : The results were as followed: HRQOL and self rated health had a significantly lower in Group 1(p<.05). In all groups, HRQOL was affected by self rated health(β=0.39), mental health, and medical health significantly(p<.05). In group 1, HRQOL was affected by mental health(β=0.45), self rated health significantly(p<.05). In group 2, HRQOL was affected by medical health(β=0.45), functional health, mental health significantly(p<.05). Conclusion : In order to improve the HRQOL of stroke patients during rehabilitative therapy, it is important that early detection and early intervention of depression and suicide, which affect mental health status, are important in the case of severe aftereffects. If the patient continues to support his/her current status regardless of aftereffects, he/she can improve the HRQOL with functional recovery of the stroke patient, and finally have a positive effect on the independence of the stroke patients.

Objective : The purpose of this study to create a translation of Life Space Assessment(LSA) for elderly, which was then tested for content related validity and understanding test. Methods : The translation and content validation process involved direct and backward translation, and the collection of content-related evidence from 6 expert panels and 13 clinician panels. A content validity indices (CVI), means, and standard deviations were used for the analysis of the content validity. Results : The results of the comparison between the original LSA and the Korean LSA with the expert panels were I-CVI showed a very high value of .93. and 1.00, and S-CVI/Ave 0.99. The results of the understanding test were showed a very high value of .92 and 1.00, and S-CVI/Ave 0.97. Conclusion : Korean LSA showed content related validity and understanding test, and illustrated the applicability of LSA in a Korean clinical setting. The results showed LSA can be used a useful tool for evaluating the community mobility of elderly.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of virtual reality-based remote rehabilitation on stroke patients systematically and to look for its effect and how to apply it domestically. Methods : In order to search data, EMBASE and CINAHL database were used. Relevant research used those terms of virtual reality, telerehabilitation, and stroke. A total of 10 studies satisfying the selection criteria was analyzed according to their qualitative level, general characteristics, and PICO method. Results : Based on the selected 10 studies, virtual reality-based telerehabilitation system was applied. Sensory and motor feedback was provided with inputting visual and auditory senses through a video in the home environment, and it stimulated changes in the client’s nervous system. Tools to measure the results were upper extremity function, balance and gait, activities of daily living, etc. Those virtual reality-based telerehabilitation method had an effect on upper extremity function and ability of sense of balance in all studies, and on the activities of daily living partially. Telerehabilitation service to make up environmental specificity improved satisfaction of client. That meaned the effect of the intervention to maintain the function. Conclusion : The virtual reality-based telerehabilitation system was applied to upper extremity function, sense of balance, and activities of daily living largely , and it showed that it helped to improve functions through intervention, supervision, and training of therapist in the home environment as well. This study suggests the basis and possibility of clinical application on virtual-reality based telerehabilitation. Additional research is needed to diverse virtual reality intervention methods and the effect of telerehabilitation in the future.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of multi-sensory stimulation training on cognitive function and balance skill of the community resident elderly. Methods : 10 participants who is over aged 65 years carry out multisensory stimulation training program for 12weeks, once a week for 60minutes. The multisensory stimulation training program is consisted of total 12 topic based on body schema, gross muscle and tactile stimulation. The result was measured using Mini-Mental State Examination-Korean and Berg Balance Scale to evaluate before and after of cognitive function and balance skill. And after intervention, the satisfaction of the program was investigated. Wilcoxon matched-pair signed rank test was used to compare pre- post difference of cognitive function and balance skill. Results : There was significant difference in cognitive function and balance skill(p<.05) and the satisfaction is positive at the end of the program. Conclusion : The multisensory stimulation training program has positive effects on cognitive function and balance skill for elderly. And the satisfaction is positive at the end of the program. The multisensory stimulation training program can enhance the satisfaction to elderly in the aging society. So, additional studies is needed for efficient use.
