Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in occupational therapists job satisfaction and the status of occupational therapy in rehabilitation of medical centers after the implementation of the rehabilitation medical institution project. Methods : A survey was conducted on 114 occupational therapists working in rehabilitation of medical centers from October 25 to November 18, 2021. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics, changes in job satisfaction according to the implementation of the rehabilitation medical institution project, current status and perceptions of occupational therapy effects for functional recovery/return to society. For the collected data, frequency analysis and descriptive statistics were conducted using SPSS 25.0. Results : After the implementation of the rehabilitation medical institution project, job satisfaction of occupational therapists was positive in relation to clients, cooperation with occupational therapists, and appropriateness of entrusted work, whereas the level of remuneration, amount of work, and promotion opportunities changed negatively. As a result of analyzing occupational therapy intervention types according to ICF, it is reported that a lot of basic activities of daily livings training was performed for functional recovery and return to society. Intensive rehabilitation therapy was the most common reason for project implementation to help rehabilitation patients in the recovery phase to return to society and functional recovery. Conclusion : This study suggests that there is a need for a way that can improve job satisfaction of occupational therapists in rehabilitation medical institutions and activate the application of insurance fee ‘training for basic and instrumental activities of daily living’. In addition, physical and institutional support for rehabilitation training within the community should be provided.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to identify predictive factors that affect depression in stroke patients, and to provide basic data on the need to approach the occupational therapy intervention program in stroke patients by considering psychological factors such as alleviation of depression. Method : In order to identify predictive factors affecting depression in stroke patients, a secondary analysis was conducted on 91 stroke patients using data from the second year of the 8th National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. We analyzed general characteristics, health-related characteristics, and stroke-related characteristics were in order to identify predictors of stroke patients. Depression was measured using the Korean version of the Depression Screening Tool(PHQ-9). Result : The prevalence of depression among stroke patients was 11.6%. Among the characteristics of stroke patients, there was a significant difference in marital status among general characteristics, activity restriction, perception of usual stress, and limitation of daily living activities among health-related characteristics(p<0.05). There was no significant difference in variables of stroke-related characteristics (p>0.05). As variables affecting depression in stroke patients, it was found that depression increased when there was activity restriction(B=3.719), in a married state living alone(B=2.895), and when there was a lot of stress(B=2.824)(p<0.05), and the explanatory power of the regression analysis was 33.7%. Conclusion : In order to maximize the therapeutic effect in establishing occupational therapy intervention strategies for stroke patients with depression, it is thought that it is necessary to add programs for reducing activity restriction, increasing social support, and reducing stress, which are predictive factors for depression in stroke patients.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to identify changes in social participation levels and quality of life of adults with physical disabilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and to determine if there is any correlation between the quality of life and the social participation. Methods : The change in social participation of 92 disabled people living in Busan and Gyeongsangnam-do was measured between before and after the COVID-19 pandemic, and their quality of life was quantified as the subjective quality of life of the physical disabled. Results : Studies have revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic has induced significant changes in overall social participation, interpersonal relationships, social and economic life, family life, transport, civic life, and total health. And there were significant changes in overall quality of life, family relationships and relationships with other relatives, physical and mental health, leisure activities, occupational and daily work, self-respect, and general life. The social participation and the quality of life caused by COVID-19 have been shown to be significantly correlated with overall social participation, interpersonal relationships, social and economic life, communication, transport, civic life, and total health. Conclusion : COVID-19 has decreased the social participation and quality of life of the disabled, and a lower level of social participation is associated with a the lower quality of life. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of life of physically disabled, interventions that promote social participation are necessary.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the main outcomes and research trends of LSVT-BIG intervention on patients with Parkinson's disease through the study of the scoping review. Methods : The main search databases Cochrane Library, NDSL, Pubmed, RISS and Science Direct were used. Documents published in academic journals were collected from 2005 to December 2021. The search terms "LSVT BIG" AND "Parkinson's disease" were used. The final 24 articles were selected. Results : There are 24 studies were included. LSVT-BIG intervention studies applied to patients with Parkinson's disease were continuously published from 2005 to 2021. In the disease progression stage of the study subjects, the subjects in the early to middle stage were the most. A lot of the case study and one-group pretest-posttest design were included. Only 6 studies consisted of randomized controlled trials. As for the method of intervention, the single intervention study was the most common with 17 studies. 4 studies comparing the effects of conventional rehabilitation treatment and LSVT-BIG intervention were included. 3 studies compared LSVT-BIG interventions with other interventions. In 4 studies, the existing protocol was modified and applied. Standard protocols were applied in 20 studies. In the effect of LSVT-BIG intervention, 24 studies provided a change in motor function. In 10 studies, psychosocial factors were identified. In addition, there were 3 studies confirming the ability to occupational performance and activities of daily living ability, and 2 studies were for cognitive function Conclusion : LSVT-BIG intervention has a positive effect on motor function, psychosocial factors, cognitive function, occupational performance, and ability to activities of daily living in patients with Parkinson's disease. In addition, a research design with a high level of evidence is needed in the future and research is needed for a variety of diseases.

Objective : This study conducted a survey on the needs of the local community comprehensive social welfare center program targeting local residents in the D area of Chungnam, and tried to analyze the information on the service program needs of the local community comprehensive social welfare center. Methods : Using a structured questionnaire, a survey was conducted on 306 citizens of the local community from April 01, 2022 to May 31, 2022, mainly in the D area of Chungcheongnam-do. The questionnaire consisted of 11 questions about the general characteristics of the subjects and 6 questions related to the desired service program of a community social welfare center. It was finally analyzed that the response rate of the collected questionnaires was over 60%. Results : ‘Health and medical service business program (18.6%)’ was the top priority for the desired program of community social welfare centers, and by age group, ‘psychological and emotional support’ and ‘crisis family support (19%)’ were the highest among teenagers. ‘Psycho-emotional support (26.5%)’ was highest among those in their 20s and 30s, ‘social education program (35.8%)’ among those in their 40s and 50s, and ‘Health service program (24.1%)’ among those in their 60s or older. When asked about their intention to participate in the welfare center service program, 48% and 61.5% of those in their 40s and 50s and over 60s gave positive answers, respectively, and 85.7% and 61.5% of those in their 20s and 30s answered negatively, indicated the answer. In the health care service program, ‘health treatment (35%)’ was the highest, followed by ‘rehabilitation treatment (24.8%)’. As a desired rehabilitation treatment program, ‘musculoskeletal rehabilitation’ was the highest at 62% and 54.2%, in teenagers and in their 20s and 30s, respectively, and ‘cognitive (dementia) rehabilitation program’ in their 40s and 50s and over 60s, 34.7% and 50.6%, respectively were the highest. As for the desired leisure activity program, ‘Adult Certification Class (30.9%)’ was the highest among adults in their 20s and 50s, ‘Senior Health Gymnastics Class (54.2%)’ for those in their 60s and over, and ‘Reading Activities (17.3%)’ in the children’s program was the highest. In the elderly welfare program, both men and women had the highest expectations for ‘health counseling and rehabilitation program’ with 55.3% and 57.8%, respectively. Conclusion : The most desired service program among those in their 60s or older who answered most positively about using the community comprehensive social welfare center program was the health care service business program, and among them, it was necessary to establish a health care treatment and specialized rehabilitation treatment program. Among the specialized rehabilitation treatments, cognitive (dementia) rehabilitation was analyzed in the order, and they answered that it is the most necessary part of recruiting professional manpower for the establishment and operation of these programs. In the future, it is thought that it is necessary to recruit professional manpower to open and operate these programs at community social welfare centers.

Objective : The purpose of this study was conducted to investigate perception and needs for continuing education of occupational therapists. Methods : We conducted an online questionnaire survey of 432 occupational therapist. Data were collected from June 15 to 29, 2021. The questionnaire consisted of a total of 31 questions, consisting of 8 questions for general characteristics, each 8 questions for perception and needs of continuing education, 7 questions for needs for management and participation in continuing education. An independent t-test was conducted to compare the perception and needs according to gender. In addition, a one-way ANOVA test was conducted to compare the differences according to general characteristics, and the post-analysis was analyzed by the Scheffé test. Results : The perception of continuing education averaged 2.53, needs for continuing education was 3.24. Areas with a large difference in perception and needs were the community area and the mental health area, and areas with a small difference were the humanities area and the physical disability area. Perception of continuing education showed significant differences according to gender, age, education level, career, and position of work, and needs showed significant differences in age and position of work. The reason for completing continuing education was 'to acquire credits' and 'to use in the current job', the needs for non-face-to-face education was higher than that of face-to-face education, and case study and lecture methods were required. Conclusion : For the development of continuing education for occupational therapist, it is necessary to develop various continuing education programs and to reflect the needs of occupational therapist.

Objective : This study was to investigate the effect of Occupation based reminiscence program on depression and resilience of community elderly. Methods : Occupation based reminiscence program was provided to two elderly women. Baseline(A) of 3 sessions, intervention(B) of 11 sessions, and baseline regression(A') of 3 sessions were performed. Korean Form of Geriatric Depression Scale (KGDS) for depression and Korean Resilience Quotient Test-53 (KRQ-53) for resilience were measured for subjective evaluation at the last session of each period. QECG-3 was measured for heart rate variability, at each session to investigate physiological depression and physiological resilience. The amount of change in each period of subjective depression and subjective resilience was investigated for the analysis of results, and physiological depression and physiological resilience were visually analyzed to confirm the average and ±2 standard deviation band results for each period. Results : Depression decreased in both subjective and physiological depression. Subjective resilience decreased in subject 1 and increased in subject 2, and physiological resilience increased in all subjects. Conclusion : Occupation based reminiscence program was effective for subjective depression, physiological depression, and physiological resilience for elderly in community. Through this, the group study that applied Occupation based reminiscence program to prevent of depression and increase of physiological resilience of elderly in community could be considered.

Purpose : This study was to find out the effect of oral health and disability on the quality of living of senior citizens with physical disabilities in local communities, as well as how the variables are correlated with each other and how well they explain their causality. Method : The study included 117 senior citizens with physical disabilities in local communities. The questionnaire included questions on the general characteristics of the respondents. For testing, Oral health status assessment (OHAT), WHODAS 2.0, and quality of life (EQ-5D) were used. Additionally, Pearson’s correlation and hierarchical multiple regression analysis were applied. Results : Oral health and disability showed statistically significant correlation with quality of living. The regression analysis indicated significant effect of oral health and disability on quality of living. Among the sub-factors of WHODAS 2.0, self-maintenance and socializing with others exerted the most significant effect. Conclusion : The findings indicate the significant effect of oral health and disability on the quality of living of senior citizens with physical disabilities. In the future, it is hoped that it will be used as a variety of occupational therapy interventions so that people with physical disabilities can maintain their swallowing function and physical health and lead an independent life.
