Objective : In this study, we tried to establish the basic data of occupational therapy in hospice and palliative care by confirming the role, awareness and knowledge of occupational therapists in the environment of hospice and palliative care. Methods : This study was conducted with 200 occupational therapists from all over the country who agreed to participate in the study. The survey was conducted through an online questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of a total of 41 questions, including 6 general characteristics, 10 questions related to the role of occupational therapist in hospice·palliative care, 20 questions on knowledge measurement of hospice·palliative care, and 5 questions on perception of occupational therapy in hospice·palliative care . Descriptive statistics were used for the general characteristics and priority, frequency, and proportion of occupational therapy roles in hospice and palliative care. Independent sample T-test and Kruskal-Wallis test were performed to understand the difference in hospice and palliative care knowledge measurement according to general characteristics. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to confirm the effect of perception of hospice and palliative care on knowledge of hospice and palliative care. Results : The priority for the role of occupational therapists in hospice and palliative care was high in the order of prepare for death, pain prevention and reduction, and quality of life. Overall awareness of hospice and palliative care was low, and the need and curriculum for occupational therapy in hospice and palliative care were high. Comparative analysis of hospice and palliative care knowledge according to general characteristics of occupational therapists did not show any significant difference. Conclusion : Through this study, it was possible to confirm the opinion and level of occupational therapy in hospice and palliative care of domestic occupational therapists. In the future, it is necessary to develop a curriculum for hospice and palliative care occupational therapy and to conduct related research.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of employment-related attitudes of people with brain lesions, such as degree of family support for employment, self-efficacy, self-esteem, and degree of disabilities acceptance on their social participation. Methods : 281 people with brain lesions who responded as brain lesions disorder in the second wave of the forth data of Panel Survey of Employment for Disabled were selected as the study subjects. Pearson's correlation coefficient was analyzed to identify variables that could predict social participation relating to employment-related attitudes. Finally, multiple linear regression analysis was performed to investigate the effect of each variable on social participation. Results : The correlations of the variables affecting social participation of persons with brain lesions were analyzed, resulting that self-efficacy (p<.001), degree of family support for employment (p<.001), degree of disabilities acceptance (p<.05), education level (p<.01), and degree of disabilities acceptance (p<.001) turned out to have positive correlation. Among the factors of employment-related attitude of people with brain lesions, it was analyzed that degree of family support for employment (p<.001), degree of disabilities acceptance (p<.001), and self-efficacy (p<.001) accounted for 20.7% of social participation. Conclusion : Among the factors of the employment-related attitude of people with brain lesions, degree of family support for employment and self-efficacy were analyzed as important variables affecting social participation. In the future, when applying occupational therapy interventions to improve social participation, degree of family support for employment and self-efficacy should be taken into consideration.

Objective : This study is to know how the internal and external control of the elderly in care facilities affect the relational aggression’s perception. Methods : I analyzed the internal and external control and the relational aggression‘s perception through a survey of the elderly in care facilities. For data collection, 148 of 165 questionnaires, excluding 17 questionnaires with missing questionnaire and middle-level abandonment, were used for the final analysis. Independent variables were the internal and external control, dependent variables were the relational aggression of negative and bullying behaviors, and controlled variables were general sociological characteristics of the elderly. Results : The results were as follows: First, there was a significant difference internal and external control depending on the length of a care facility. Second, there were significant differences in the recognition of relational aggression depending on the level of education, the period of admission, the presence of spouses, and the level of economy. Third, there was a significant difference in comparison of relational aggression perceptions according to internal and external control. Fourth, internal and external control affected the recognition of relational aggression. Conclusion : According to the demographic characteristics, there was a difference in the internal and external control and relational aggression perception of the elderly living in the facilities, and the internal and external control affected the level of relational aggression perception of the elderly in the facilities.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in occupational balance and quality of life caused by COVID-19 in occupational therapy students. Methods : From May 27 to June 26, 2020, questionnaires were distributed to a total of 35 universities among 62 occupational therapy departments nationwide. General characteristics, COVID-19 related characteristics, OBQ and WHOQOL-BREF were used to evaluate and analyze occupational balance and quality of life. The SPSS/PC 24.0 program was used to analyze frequency analysis, crossover analysis, chi-square test, independent t-test, analysis of variance, and Pearson correlation analysis. Results : There were significant differences in school system(years), class, life pattern, quality of life, personal and public schedule depending on whether they are interested in occupational balance. There were significant differences in occupational balance(OBQ) and quality of life(WHOQOL-BREF), ‘Hobby’, ‘new hobbies after COVID-19’, ‘life patterns’, ‘use of public transportation’, ‘maintenance of occupational balance’, and ‘quality of life’. There was a significant positive correlation occupational balance and quality of life. Conclusion : This study showed that the more people who have changed their lives due to COVID-19 are interested in work balance, and the better they maintain their work balance and emotional well-being, the higher the work balance and quality of life, and the positive correlation between work balance and quality of life was confirmed. This will be the basis for studies related to intervention strategies that can improve occupational balance and quality of life in a time when social isolation is easy due to the COVID-19 epidemic.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to establish a systematic educational operation platform by collecting expert opinions so that occupational therapists can use continuing education well as a means to become professional occupational therapists in a particular field. Methods : A Delphi study was conducted with 23 experts on continuing education courses in common areas, elderly or dementia, community-based, physical rehabilitation, and developmental disabilities conducted in 2019 and 2020. The first Delphi investigated the suitability of the course as a professional continuing education and the appropriate level of education. In the second Delphi, we derived the final platform by verifying its suitability with verification of its content validity. Results : As a result, 87 items were derived for common areas, 53 items for elderly or dementia, 66 items for community-based, 66 items for physical rehabilitation, and 85 items for developmental disabilities. The main contents included the expertise needed by occupational therapists, the role in various fields, the solution of difficulties in clinical practice, and the topic of preparing for the future. Conclusion : This study was meaningful in presenting an educational operation platform for training professional occupational therapists as a basic study. It is hoped that the optimal education operation platform will be developed to strengthen professional skills of occupational therapists efficiently through future research.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to present an analysis model in developing an inclusive response for safety hazards and disaster preventive information system for vulnerable people to the disaster including persons with disabilities, and those with specific needs. Methods : In this study, the persona analysis method is used to analyze fictitious characters that correspond to various characteristics such as age, disability, environment, occupation, etc. in terms of the scenario of some particular disaster subjects. Based on the user's communication problems derived from the persona analysis, focused group interview and ICF based analysis were implemented to identify needs and arbitration methods. Results : The needs from persona analysis and ICF-based communication items analysis identifies the factors that make each fictitious character difficult in terms of communication in obtaining the benefits consistent with the purpose of the service. The study derives service requirements that can provide arbitration or facilitation methods to increase communication ability of the users. Conclusion : Through the persona analysis method, difficulties that could occur when receiving disaster information using communication devices were identified and analyzed in conjunction with communication problems described in the ICF. In building information services for the prevention of safety hazards and disasters, this study presented a model that uses the persona analysis method and the ICF classification system to derive user requirements for accessible information system.

Objective : Due to the rapid aging of the country, the elderly population is increasing and the ratio of face-to-face meetings with the elderly in major areas of occupational therapy is high. The purpose of this study was to investigate the overall perception of the elderly and the status of communication with the elderly. Methods : This survey was conducted From April to June 2020. Occupational therapists who provide interventions for the elderly in hospitals and public health centers across the country were collected using online questionnaires. A total of 91 questionnaires were collected through a self-administered questionnaire, of which 82 were used for data analysis, excluding 9 with insufficient responses. Results : Occupational therapists generally had a lot of negative perceptions of the elderly. In addition, as factors that hindered communication with the elderly, they responded in order of hearing-related, language understanding related, and articulation related. Lastly, occupational therapists were found to induce smooth communication with the elderly in the order of conversation response management, emotional expression, understanding enhancement, and relationship control. Conclusions : Occupational therapists are health care professionals who play a major role in improving the subjects' social participation and quality of life. Therefore, it is necessary to provide professional therapeutic interventions and related education using improved communication skills along with an understanding of the elderly's communication skills and their level of communication.

Objective : This study was to examine the effects of general characteristics and fall efficacy on health care program needs through a comparative analysis of general characteristics and health care program needs for the elderly. Methods : In this study, we analyzed data from 118 elderly people with t-test and ANOVA for comparison of fall effectiveness and health care program requirements and with regression for general characteristics and effects of fall effectiveness on health care program needs. Results : The results were as followed: First, there was a significant difference in gender(p=.00), age (p=.00),educational background(p=.00), and existence of spouse(p=.00), and no significant difference in income(p=.17) based on fall efficiency according to the general characteristics. There was a significant difference in gender(p=.00), age(p=.00), educational background(p=.00), and income(p=.00) and no significant difference in existence of spouse (p=.46) based on health care program needs according to the general characteristics. Second, it was shown that the higher age, the higher the income, the higher the effectiveness of the fall, and in case of woman, the more significant the effect of the exercise program had.. The explanation was 56 percent. Third, the higher the age, the higher the income, and the higher the fall efficiency, the more meaningful the cognitive program demand. The explanation was 48 percent. Conclusion : The data from this study showed the importance of fall efficacy in older people with significantly higher risk of falls than in other age groups, and the need for exercise and cognitive management programs to prevent falls.
