Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors affecting occupational therapist's job stress through meta-analysis. Methods : In order to achieve the purpose of the study, 15 studies that examined job stress of occupational therapists were selected for analysis. The general characteristics of individual papers and the magnitude of the effect of related variables on job stress were calculated. The effect size of related variables on job stress and sub-factors (Fisher z) were calculated. Results : The results were found that the effect size on job stress was not significant in the variables of education level, salary and age. The largest effect size was found to be turnover intention (ES=1.161). There was no significant effect size in sub-factors of interpersonal conflict, organization system and insufficient job control. There was a significant effects in physical environment, lack of reward, job insecurity, job demand and occupational climate. Conclusion : The results of this study were suggested that an approach depending on sub-factors is needed to reduce job stress of occupational therapists. Satisfaction, burnout, and self-efficacy, which are psychological factors, are considered to be needed a program for psychological empowerment in order to reduce the job stress of the occupational therapist with a medium effect size according to individual sub-factors.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for the development of a instrumental activities of daily living training program called grocery shopping for schizophrenic patients in Delphi. Methods : The final program items and contents were completed through the first and third delphi surveys from August 2018 to March 2019. The expert composition selected 26 occupational therapists related to mental health. Three surveys were conducted and 23 experts participated in the Delphi survey. The second questionnaire, which was created from an open questionnaire, was designed to indicate the degree of importance using the Likert 5-point scale. As a result of the response of the 3rd questionnaire, the level of expert consensus was reconfirmed by analyzing average, standard deviation, and content validity ratio (CVR). Results : Three rounds of Delphi research reveal four categories of questions: grocery shopping views, product purchase strategies, necessary functions, and expert knowledge and experience on how to make purchase decisions. 24 items were selected. Through the 2nd and 3rd Delphi surveys, 4 items that did not meet the criteria of goodness of fit of each item or duplicated the contents were deleted and finally 20 items were extracted. Conclusion : Experts' agreement on grocery shopping technology was drawn from an occupational therapy perspective so that patients with schizophrenia living in the community could recover and participate as a member of society.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of bilateral chewing exercise applied for 6 weeks on occlusion force and masseter muscle thickness in the elderly living in the community. Methods : This study recruited 25 community residents. All participants performed bilateral chewing exercise using equipment developed for the purpose of oral chewing exercise. The chewing exercise was divided into isometric and isotonic type and applied for about 20 minutes a day, five times a week for six weeks. For the evaluation, the masseter muscle thickness and the maximum occlusion force were measured three times at three week intervals using a portable ultrasound instrument and an occlusion force gauge. Results : As a result of the change in masseter muscle thickness, baseline, 3 weeks later, and 6 weeks later referred to 7.51±0.43, 7.63±0.44, and 7.83±0.46, respectively (F=3.819, p<.05). The post hoc test resulted in a significance between baseline and 6 weeks later (p=0.023). Similarly, as a result of the change in occlusion force, baseline, 3 weeks later, and 6 weeks later referred to 265±9.22, 268±9.57, and 271.59±10.16, respectively (F=3.031, p<.05). The post hoc test resulted in a significance between baseline and 6 weeks later (p=0.048). Conclusion : This study confirmed that bilateral chewing exercise was effective for increasing masseter muscle thickness and occlusion force in the elderly. Therefore, bilateral chewing exercise can be applied as a therapeutic exercise method for improving oral function.

Objective : The aim of this study was to investigate the care burden and life quality in family caregivers of community-dwelling patients using home mechanical ventilator(HMV) in Yeognam region. Methods : Survey performed to family caregivers of the patients using HMV in Yeognam region, Korea. The questionnaire is composed with patient care and the burden on caring. Korean version of Short Form Zarit Burden Interview(K-ZBI-12) and 3-Level version of EuroQol-5 Dimension applying Korean weight(KEQ-5D-3L) were also investigated. Statistical significance was accepted for p<.05. Results : A total 98 out of 150 questionnaires were analyzed. The K-ZBI-12(33.08±10.34) had a correlation with KEQ-5D-3L(0.71±0.25) negatively(p=.038). Patients’ age, duration of HMV, financial burden and professional caregivers' care time had correlations with K-ZBI-12 positively(p<.05). KEQ-5D-3L correlated duration of HMV negatively(p=.017). Invasive ventilator group had lower KEQ-5D-3L than the non-invasive ventilator group(p=.008). K-ZBI-12 was lower in more than one caregiver care of patients than in one(p=.001). Conclusion : This study revealed high care burden and low quality of life in family caregivers of the patients with HMV in Yeongnam region, Korea. Efforts are needed to continually identify the needs of patients and their families, and the socioeconomic support and medical services associated with HMV.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of object size and reaching distance on kinematic factors of the upper limb while performing arm reaching for normal subjects. Methods : The subjects of this study were 30 university students who were in D university in Busan, and the measuring tool was CMS-70P(Zebris Medizintechnik Gmbh, Germany), a three-dimensional motion analyzer. The task had six conditions. The average velocity of motion, average acceleration, maximum velocity, and the velocity definite number of movements were measured according to changes in object size(2cm, 10cm) and reaching distance(15%, 37.5%, 60%) when they performed arm reaching. The general characteristics of the subject were technical statistics. One-way ANOVA measurement was used to compare variables when the arm reaching task was performed from two object sizes to three reaching distance, and the post-test was conducted with Tukey test. In addition, an independent t-test was used to analyze the kinematic differences according to the two object sizes at three reaching distances. A two-way ANOVA measurement (3×2 Two-way ANOVA measurement) was performed to identify the interaction of the reaching distance(15%, 37.5%, 60%) and the object size(2cm, 10cm). The statistical significance level α was set to .05. Results : When the size of the object increased, the velocity and maximum velocity also increased, but the definite number of velocity decreased. When the reaching distance increased, the velocity and maximum velocity increased, whereas the definite number of velocity decreased. Conclusion : The clinical significance of this study could be utilized as the baseline data for grading object size and reaching distances when the reaching training is implemented for patients whose central nervous system was damaged.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to identify and understand the internal and external control of the caregivers of elderly with severe dementia and the effects of care stress on depression, and to provide basic data of occupational therapy intervention. Methods : The internal and external control, care stress, and depression were examined in questionnaires for the caregivers of elderly who were diagnosed with moderate or higher degree of dementia through CDR by medical institutions. Internal and external control and depression by care stress was analyzed by using independent samples t-test and ANOVA, and the effects of internal and external control and care stress on depression were analyzed by performing multiple regression analysis. Results : The results were as follow; The first, there was a significant degree of depression according to difference of internal and external control. The second, there was a significant degree of classification in the care stress. The third, the effects of internal controls and care stress on depression were shown to be statistically significant. Conclusion : Based on the analyzed results, the caregivers of elderly with severe dementia needs to seek the role of a occupational therapist who can enhance internal control and lower care stress in intervention of occupational therapy because internal control and care stress can affect depression.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of sleep quality on activity participation in the elderly living in the community. Methods : This study was conducted on 200 elderly people using welfare institutions located in Jeollabuk-do from August 21 to September 29, 2019. Data collection was performed using the Korean version of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI-K) and the Korean-Activity Card Sort (K-ACS). The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, independent t-test, Pearson correlation, and simple linear regression analysis. Results : The group with high quality of sleep showed significantly higher participation in instrumental activities, social activities and leisure activities than the group with low quality of sleep (p<.001). The quality of sleep was significantly correlated with instrumental activities, social activities and leisure activities (p<.01). The quality of sleep significantly affected the instrumental activities (R2=.224), social activities (R2=.142) and leisure activities (R2=.227) (p<.001). Conclusion : The quality of sleep needs to be approaches to promote the participation of elderly people living in the community, and development of an intervention program will be needed to improve quality of sleep.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the awareness of job task importance and performance of occupational therapists in the community care system for the elderly. Methods : We conducted an online questionnaire survey of 152 occupational therapists nationwide from May 31, to June 24, 2019. General characteristics and institutional awareness, role and performance awareness were analyzed by descriptive statistics. One way ANOVA were conducted to compare the differences of working days, working places, and the field of work. Results : The recognition of the community care system for the elderly was low at 2.93 ± 1.0 but the importance of the community care system was 3.94 ± 0.7 and the importance of the occupational therapist in the system was 4.34 ± 0.7. Fall prevention (4.63 ± 0.7) was the most important in occupational therapist's jobs, and performance was high in instrumental activity daily living training (3.94 ± 0.8) and physical function training (3.94 ± 0.8). Conclusion : This study can be presented as basic data on job task importance and performance awareness of occupational therapists in the elderly community care system. In addition, it is expected to be used as basic data for establishing the role of occupational therapist in the elderly community care system.
