Objective : The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of multi-sensory stimulation training on cognitive function and balance skill of the community resident elderly. Methods : 10 participants who is over aged 65 years carry out multisensory stimulation training program for 12weeks, once a week for 60minutes. The multisensory stimulation training program is consisted of total 12 topic based on body schema, gross muscle and tactile stimulation. The result was measured using Mini-Mental State Examination-Korean and Berg Balance Scale to evaluate before and after of cognitive function and balance skill. And after intervention, the satisfaction of the program was investigated. Wilcoxon matched-pair signed rank test was used to compare pre- post difference of cognitive function and balance skill. Results : There was significant difference in cognitive function and balance skill(p<.05) and the satisfaction is positive at the end of the program. Conclusion : The multisensory stimulation training program has positive effects on cognitive function and balance skill for elderly. And the satisfaction is positive at the end of the program. The multisensory stimulation training program can enhance the satisfaction to elderly in the aging society. So, additional studies is needed for efficient use.

Objective : The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of rehabilitation therapists’ general characteristics and job involvement on stress. The subjects of this study were occupational therapists and physical therapists working for long-term hospitals and general hospitals located in K and B cities, South Korea. Methods : The study investigated general characteristics, job stress, and job involvement by using questionnaires. Analysis conducted on total 144 questionnaires excluding 19 questionnaires, which did not satisfy the subject selection criteria. Results : The results show that job involvement had significantly positive correlations with job requirement, job autonomy, relationship conflicts, organization system, inappropriate compensation, job instability, and workplace culture. Secondly, marital status, wage level, and job engagement explained 46.6% of variations in job stress. Conclusion : The study was meaningful in examining the variables influencing the job stress of rehabilitation therapists. We expect that it can be used for improving the job environment of rehabilitation therapists.

Objective : In October 2016, the most powerful earthquake, magnitude 5.1 and 5.8 struck the city of Gyeongju in Korea. Although it did not take a toll, this implicates potential disaster in the future. Taking this earthquake, this paper considers the healthcare system responding to disaster in non-government organization and other countries, and investigates the roles of occupational therapist in disaster management. Methods : This paper reviews literature related to healthcare system and roles of occupational therapist in disaster response. Results : Humanitarian recovery mission of Red Cross impacted and facilitated the recovery of vulnerable population including children, elderly and people with disabilities in disaster response. It was also emphasized by occurring large population with disabilities after disasters so that the concept of rehabilitation and occupational therapist’s role was required. Occupational therapy practitioners play an important role in the stage of disaster preparedness, response and recovery and their target population is children, elderly and people with disabilities. Conclusion : The most of NGO and counties take the concept of rehabilitation into healthcare system responding to disaster. However, the system in Korea stays in emergency level. It is important to take the humanitarian recovery and rehabilitation concept to disaster relief. the survivors would be able to return to their normalcy and health life.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to know the relationship of stress and aggression of children with physical disability. The study also tried to search the factors affecting aggression and offer the information to the department of occupational therapy for intervention. Method : We distributed questionnaire to 105 children who have disability grades from hospitals in Gyeongsangbukdo, Gyeongsangnamdo, Daegu, and Busan and collected the data. We used descriptives for analysis of general characteristics, t-test and one-way ANOVA for stress and aggression according to characteristics, and Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise regression for stress and aggression. Result : The first, stress score was 2.65, aggression was 2.53, and physical aggression was 3.01 that is the highest score in the items. The second, there was a significant difference of physical aggression(p=.021) in comparison of the grades. There was a significant difference of stress(p=.048), total aggression(p=.040), and physical aggression(p=.047) in comparison of gender. There was significant difference of stress(p=.035) and total aggression(p=.042) in satisfaction of school. The third, there was a significant correlation of total aggression(r=.475), physical aggression(r=.568), language aggression(r=.311), anger(r=.397), and hostility (r=.491) quantitatively in correlation of stress and aggression. The fourth, the factors affecting aggression of children with physical disability were stress, male, and satisfaction of school(F=61.187, p<.01). Conclusion : We knew that factors affecting aggression of children with physical disability were their stress and some of general characteristics.

Objective : The aim of this study was to investigate the status of infection for infectious diseases and infection control in occupational therapy. Methods : This study was implemented through the survey composed of the status of infection for infectious disease and the infection control and awareness of the infection control. The duration of survey was a month, June, 2016. 111 occupational therapists in 23 room of occupational therapy completed a survey. Results : 34.8% of occupational therapy room experienced the infectious diseases. This study showed the occupational therapists have high performance in almost items of infection control. But the occupational therapist showed the low performance in the items including ‘Washing hands over than 15 seconds’, ‘Washing hands before and after wearing gloves’, ‘Wearing mask during treatment’, ‘Throwing away mask after using’ and ‘Washing your uniform separate from other cloths’. Almost occupational therapists think infection control is important and the education for infection control is needed in occupational therapy. But most of the education is implemented in only medical institution. Conclusion : To improve performance in infection control, individual effort of occupational therapists and institutional strategies are needed. This study will use as basic data for the education about infection control aimed at the occupational therapists.

Objective : The purpose of study is to provide basic information about the effects of leisure time use and leisure activity performance for intellectual disabilities residing in a residential care facility by participating a regular rehabilitation sports program. Methods : Participants were recruited 8 individual with intellectual disability in a residential care facility in Yong-in city and the study period lasted 12 weeks, from september 1 to November 30 in 2015. As a program, participants participated a muscle strengthening exercise using a Gym-ball and a elastic band. In order to analyze leisure time-use, time questionnaire was used every month to analyze total time and exercise frequency. Also, analyze the effects of leisure activity performance, Canadian Occupational Performance Measure(COPM) was used to performance and satisfaction of dynamic leisure activity. Collected data was encoded by item and analyzed with SPSS ver18.0. Descriptive statistics were used for the participants’ general information. A non-parametric test (the Friedman test) was used to analyze leisure time-use. A non-parametric test (the Wilcoxon’s signed ranked test) was used to analyze to the effects of leisure activity performance. Statistical significance was accepted outside the 95% confidence interval. Results : The results of the total time and the exercise frequency showed significant increase. Also, the results of the performance and the satisfaction showed significant increase. Conclusion : Thus, the participation of the rehabilitation sports program is a vital element to lead to change leisure time use and leisure activity performance for intellectual disabilities residing in a residential care facility. Also, through the providing and the developing a regular rehabilitation sports program systematically, intellectual disabilities residing in a residential care facility have a higher quality of life and satisfaction of the daily routine and life in a residential care facility.
