Objective : The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of sleep quality on activity participation in the elderly living in the community. Methods : This study was conducted on 200 elderly people using welfare institutions located in Jeollabuk-do from August 21 to September 29, 2019. Data collection was performed using the Korean version of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI-K) and the Korean-Activity Card Sort (K-ACS). The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, independent t-test, Pearson correlation, and simple linear regression analysis. Results : The group with high quality of sleep showed significantly higher participation in instrumental activities, social activities and leisure activities than the group with low quality of sleep (p<.001). The quality of sleep was significantly correlated with instrumental activities, social activities and leisure activities (p<.01). The quality of sleep significantly affected the instrumental activities (R2=.224), social activities (R2=.142) and leisure activities (R2=.227) (p<.001). Conclusion : The quality of sleep needs to be approaches to promote the participation of elderly people living in the community, and development of an intervention program will be needed to improve quality of sleep.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the awareness of job task importance and performance of occupational therapists in the community care system for the elderly. Methods : We conducted an online questionnaire survey of 152 occupational therapists nationwide from May 31, to June 24, 2019. General characteristics and institutional awareness, role and performance awareness were analyzed by descriptive statistics. One way ANOVA were conducted to compare the differences of working days, working places, and the field of work. Results : The recognition of the community care system for the elderly was low at 2.93 ± 1.0 but the importance of the community care system was 3.94 ± 0.7 and the importance of the occupational therapist in the system was 4.34 ± 0.7. Fall prevention (4.63 ± 0.7) was the most important in occupational therapist's jobs, and performance was high in instrumental activity daily living training (3.94 ± 0.8) and physical function training (3.94 ± 0.8). Conclusion : This study can be presented as basic data on job task importance and performance awareness of occupational therapists in the elderly community care system. In addition, it is expected to be used as basic data for establishing the role of occupational therapist in the elderly community care system.

Objective : This study was designed to identify the effects on the time usage and quality of life of seniors with stroke by applying lifestyle redesign programs on the theoretical basis of the Occupational Balance. Method : A pretest-posttest control group design was conducted for a total of 40 stroke elderly people living in nursing homes(20 experimental and 20 control groups). Prior assessment was conducted for two weeks before the application of the lifestyle redesign program. For the next 10 weeks, the lifestyle redesign program was applied seven times a week. After that, a week of post-evaluation was conducted. The time usage for the subjects was analyzed by Life Time Survey Table of the National Statistical Office(2009) and life quality for them was analyzed by World Health Organization Quality of Life-BRIEF (WHOQOL-BRIEF). Result : The comparison of time usage before and after application of the program demonstrated that for the experimental group, rest and sleep(t=-4.89, p<.001), and leisure(t=-4.67, p<.00b1) showed significant differences. In addition, intergroup comparison results showed that there were also significant differences in rest and sleep(t=-2.24, p<.01) and leisure(t=3.57, p<.01). The comparison of life quality showed a significant difference between two groups(t=6.80, p<.001). If you look at the sub-area of quality of life, a significant difference was identified in physical health(t=6.08, p<.001), psychological health(t=5.21, p<.001), living environment area(t=3.60, p<.01). Conclusion : Lifestyle redesign program actually reduced the time usage for rest and sleep for elderly with stroke living in nursing homes, and increased the time for participating in leisure life resulting in improved quality of life.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to identify time management among college students and provide them with a basic resource for planning and educating them on efficient time management methods for improving the quality of life of all clients who receive occupational therapy services, including non-disabled people. Methods : This study is a survey of four-year university students using the questionnaire to know the relationship between structured time usage and quality of life. A total of 142 questions, excluding eight missing questionnaires, was compared and analyzed with using the general characteristics, time structure questionnaires (time structure questionnaires) and World Health Organization (WHOQOL-BREF). Results : The results of this study showed that there was a significant correlation between quality of life and structured time management, and between the sub-items of structured time management; sense of purpose, structured daily life, persistence, past direction and sleep intensity. Also, factors that affect the quality of life were sleep (β=.214), structured daily life (β=.203), a sense of purpose(β=.343), and past direction(β=.244) appeared in order. Conclusion : In the case of university student who is working within structured time, there were difficulties in showing satisfactory quality of life. These factors of poor quality of life were analyzed to affect structured daily life, sense of purpose, past direction, and sleep level.
