Objective : The purpose of this study was to identify Effects of the ROM dance on cognitive function, neuropsychiatric in using wheelchair senior in nursing home. Methods : The subjects of the experimental group were 15 seniors using wheelchair who attended an ROM dance program in a nursing home. It was carried out for 18 weeks from Mar. 2010. to August. 2010. The evaluation tools used for the presented study were the Mini-Mental Status Exam-Korean(MMSE-K) and Neuropsychiatric Inventory-Questionaire (NPI-Q). Results : In the terms of cognitive function there was no significant defference between the mean pre/post test. but the factor(orientation of time) of MMSE-K and the factors 2 (sleep/nighttime behavios, apathy/indefference) of NPI-Q was significant improvement. Conclusion : In this study, the ROM dance program was effective in improving cognitive function and neuropsychiatric in seniors using wheelchair. also ROM dance program was decreasing and regression delay effect in cognitive and neuropsychiatric.

Objective : The purpose of study was to verify the clinical effect of a Korean Computer-based cognitive rehabilitation program(called CoTras) for recovering the visual perception function and ADL in stroke. Methods : A CBCRT was applied to 14 Stoke patients who rehabilitation professional medical treatment hospital. All participant were evaluated with four standardized assessment tolls(Motor-Free Visual Perception Test; MVPT, Korean version of Mini-Mental State Examination; MMSE-K, Assesment of Motor and Process Skills: AMPS) before and after the planned computer based cognitive rehabilitation sessions. Results : A significant effect was confirmed (p<.05) from the CBCRT which visual perception function. By each entry comparative result, visual memory, figure ground, visual close, spatial relation, visual discrimination, were the order of treatment. Neither was found any significant effect in improving process skills from AMPS. Conclusion : These results indicate that CoTras have effects on improving visual perception and ADL performance in stroke patients. Will be able to present with the fundamental data CoTras will be able to contribute to increase visual perception function & ADL performance to the stroke patient who has visual perception dysfunction.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to provide basic information for professional education by investigating to learning styles and achievement goal of the first year students in the department of occupational therapy and physical therapy. Methods : 123 first year students of the department of occupational therapy and physical therapy filled out a questionnaire in Gyeongbuk and Kangwon Province. In this study, Kolb's Learning Styles and Elliot & Church's Achievement Goal were used, and to analyze, Pearson correlation, chi-square were used. Results : The results of the study were as follows. 'Accommodator' was the preferred learning type for students, while ‘diverger' was not. Collage students differed from university students in learning styles. A mastery level was the preference in the academic goal types of the students. Male students received higher grades on performance approach goals than female and student of department of physical therapy received higher grades on performance avoidance goals than students in the department of occupational therapy. There is a coefficient of correlation between performance avoidance goal and converger learning type. Therefore, first year students in the department of occupational therapy were not differed from the department of physical therapy in academic achievement but collage students differed from university students in learning styles. Conclusion : From these results, we suggested some effective teaching/learning methods based on the mastery achievement goal. An educational approach is necessary for understanding of the students' individual learning styles and achievement goal characteristics are account for students' individual negative/positive characteristics.

Objective : This study aims to identify the effect of an occupational therapeutic intervention program including horticultural therapy on cognition and daily living performance of the elderly with dementia. Methods : For the purpose, the study measured the changes before and after the therapy, targeting sixteen women with dementia who were living in nursery facilities. We used MMSE-K to analyse the cognition, and evaluated daily living performance using K-MBI(p<.05). Results : The results of the study were presented as follows: 1. To identify changes of MMSE-K before and after the therapy between the control and test groups. As a result, it was discovered that MMSE-K of the control group was 16.25±1.38 before the therapy and 16.00±.92 after the therapy, which indicated no significant differences, but MMSE-K of the test group was 16.00±1.51 before the therapy and 17.87±1.35 after the therapy, which was statistically significant (p<.05). 2. To identify changes in daily living performance(K-MBI) between the two groups before and after the therapy, and it was discovered that scores of the control group were 74.00±1.30 before the therapy and 74.25±1.16after the therapy, which showed no significant difference, but those of the test group were 73.75±1.28 before the therapy and 76.37±1.30 after the therapy, which was statistically significant(p<.05). Conclusion : Based on the results above, it was demonstrated that the an occupational therapeutic intervention program including horticultural therapy had a positive effect on cognition and daily living performance of elderly women with dementia and it is suggested that the results can be used as basic data for clinical intervention of the elderly with dementia.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to effects of the Participation in physical group occupational therapy on cognitive function, neuropsychiatric, social behavior in elderly with wandering dementia. Methods : Thirteen elderly with wandering dementia who live in nursing home in this study. Assessment tools were made by using Cognitive function scale(CFS), Algase Wandering Scale-V2(AWS-2), Neuropsychiatric Inventory-Questionaire(NPI-Q), social-behavioral function measure(SBFM). physical group occupational therapy performed for forty minute, once a week for 9weeks. the assessment tools were made twice: before, after the intervention. Results : Significant differences between pre-treatment and post-treatment were found in the AWS(p<0.05) score and SBFM(p<0.05) score, NPI-Q behabioral and psychological level(p<0.05) score. The cognitive function and neuropsychiatric number showed improvement. but score was not significantly(p>0.05) difference after physical group occupational therapy Conclusion : The findings suggest that the physical group occupational therapy used in this study may be helpful and effectiveness in elderly with wandering dementia, further studies with more subjects and longer treatment period, including will be performed to justify these findings.

Objective : This research was conducted in order to identify the influence of leisure activity by the spinal cord injury(SCI) on quality of life and present it as evidence for occupational therapy intervention. Methods : The experiment was conducted from October 2010 to March 2011 and was subjected 120 SCI of 9 administration. In use of SPSS 12, 94 samples from 120 SCI were analysis by freqency analysis, T-test and One-way ANOVA. Results : The satisfaction of leisure depending on SCI level and level of paralysis had a significant differences statistically(p< .05). Conclusion : From the research, it was identified that satisfaction of leisure can be improve depending on the level of injury and classification of paralysis, and leisure activity is related to the satisfaction of leisure and quality of life.

Objective : Study purpose is to inspect not only the utility of Evaluation of Social Interaction(ESI) but also the efficiency of occupational therapy measurement in program based local community of solitary senior citizen in G region. Methods : Six solitary senior citizen in G region were participating in a community-based program were a convenience sample for this study. The Occupational Therapy Intervention Process Model (OTIPM) provided the theoretical framework. The ESI provided a pre-test performance measure and also served as a guide for an five-week occupational therapy intervention program, and as a post-test to measure intervention effectiveness. Results : This study showed that the ESI was effective in guiding therapist Intervention related to social skill performance of participants during their participation in a community-based program. As a group, the difference between pre and post ESI logit measures was also significant(t=-7.362, p=0.001). Conclusion : The study provides initial considerations for the utility of the ESI to guide intervention related to social skill performance during daily occupations in Korea. It further documents the effectiveness of the ESI in measuring occupational therapy intervention, based on OTIPM, and supports occupational therapy services provided in a community based program context for those solitary senior citizen.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the activities of daily living on time-use of the Elderly in facility. This study is also to provide basic data of the redesign time management and lifestyle as occupational therapy. Methods : The subjects were 20 elderly people (over 65 years) who live in S institution of Daejeun from August 11th, to August 22th in 2008. We used time table, interview and FIM which was to evaluate the ability to collect the general characteristics of these subjects(gender, age, moving period, education). Results : There was no significant different between the general characteristics of the subjects and activity of daily living. The more they spent time in Active BADL and IADL, the more they got higher scores in ADL performance ability(p<0.01). The more they spent time in the more they got higher score in ADL performance ability(p<0.05). Conclusion : We could know the amount of spending time of the elderly in Daejeun area facility and it related to activity of daily living. To improve the efficiency of time-use of the elderly, it is needed the role of occupational therapists. They should prepare a intervention to maintain active and positive life of the elderly.

The previous studies were prevalent a study of treatment like a environmental modification or compensative approach and intervention which used in today to paralyzed patients. These interventions were related with occupational therapy widely. The purpose of this study is to provide a basic datum for environmental modification, compensative approach, and intervention observing physiological changes which is shown in early paralyze patients. The subjects were 40 students who were 20 female and 20 male in a college. The students were devided into hemiplegic and paraplegic model. The model was designed using a experimental cloths. A instrument to measure body composition was a precision instrument. The results of the study were as follow: First, there was no different homogeneity between activity daily of living of hemiplegic and paraplegic model. Second, there was a significant different body water and basal metabolic rate between before and after activity daily of living of hemiplegic model. Third, there was a significant different body water and basal metabolic rate between before and after activity daily of living of paraplegic model. Forth, there were no significant different physiological change between after activity daily of living of hemiplegic model and paraplegic model. We observed early changes of body composition using a hemiplegic and paraplegic model. We could know it was reduced body water rate and basal metabolic rate in regardless of type of paralysis. Therefore, it is important to know these physiological changes of paralyzed patients and improve body water and basal metabolic rate of the patients.

Objective : The purpose of this case study was to proposed a introduction and result of the disabled with stroke in community using services of Community-Based Rehabilitation. Methods : The subject was a 63-years old female patient with stroke who first visit to Public health center in July. She was evaluated on activity daily living action level by using the Modified Barthel Index(MBI) and depression level by using Beck Depression Inventory(BDI). The intervention that was suggested by WHO were Community-Based Rehabilitation(CBR) and general occupational therapy. We were applied from April, 27th 2011, to November 30th, 2011 by occupational therapist. Results : The patient's total MBI score increased from 35 to 55, it means that activity daily living performance capacity was improved. And BDI score decreased from 26 to 14, it means that depressed symptoms were in great decline. She could stand until 5-10 minutes at first, but later stand over 30minutes now. It means her muscle strength and endurance level was increased. The patient's mood condition also was stabilized and then she often showed her smiling face during the therapy. And her protector feels the client's change too. Conclusion : We could know that function level and quality of life of the patient with stroke who return to the community was improved through service of community-based rehabilitation.
