Objective : This study was conducted to develop an assessment tool for infection control activities to prevent infectious respiratory diseases in the general public aged 19 years and above. Measuring infection control activities in daily life activities has the advantages of improving personal hygiene, preventing respiratory infections and their transmission, and enabling early recognition of infectious diseases and rapid response to them to prevent their spread to local communities, which would reduce fear of respiratory infectious diseases socially and would contribute to the improvement of public health and quality of life. We felt the need to develop a tool for assessing infection control activities, including the areas of contact management and community restriction, by addressing the problems that existed in previous studies and reflecting the rapidly changing current environment. Method : From May 2022 to July 2022, previous studies were analyzed to come up with items that must be included in the assessment tool. After the preliminary assessment items were prepared through the first professional focus group meeting with three nurses, one professor, and one doctor who specialized in infection control, the importance and the frequency of performance of the assessment were investigated. Then through the second professional focus group meeting, similar functions and simultaneously performed activities were investigated to select the preliminary assessment items. After the preliminary assessment items were selected, a preliminary survey of 232 adults aged 19 years and above was conducted and Rasch analysis was performed to verify the validity of the items. The final assessment items were derived by analyzing the person and item fit, the difficulty of the items, the rating scale, and the separation reliability. Results : Of the 232 subjects, five (2.15%) were found to be ineligible. From the analysis of the fit of the assessment items with the 227 eligible subjects (excluding the five ineligible subjects), three items were judged as misfit items. The analysis of the difficulty of the items showed that the item “Do you carry disposable gloves when you go out?” was very difficult to do. The rating scale analysis showed that the three-point scale is more suitable than the five-point scale and that the separation reliability was 0.99. Finally, four categories (human surveillance, patient management, contact management, and community restriction) and 28 items were selected. Conclusion : For the infection control assessment tool, four categories and 28 items were finally selected, and a three-point Likert scale was developed. Follow-up studies are needed to prove the concurrent validity of the tool through its correlation with other assessment tools and to analyze factors that influence infection control activities.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled artificial intelligence (AI) robot services, combined with counseling and monitoring provided by occupational therapy professionals, on the care of school-age children with developmental disabilities. Methods : IoT-based AI robots were provided to 171 school-aged children with developmental disabilities and their parents for four months, enabling the children to use the robots themselves with their parents. For the following six months, occupational therapy professionals conducted the monitoring including counseling, and education for parents during using the robot. The professional monitoring was provided to the parents by telephone calls every month and text messages at least once a week. To analyze the effectiveness of the robots, a usability test was conducted according to general characteristics right before the professional monitoring period. Additionally, to confirm the effects of the professional monitoring, a satisfaction of robot usage and effectiveness of care test were conducted before and after the monitoring period. Results : The study confirmed that IoT-based AI robots can be useful devices for the care of school-aged children with developmental disabilities, and there was no difference among the participants’ characteristics (p>.05). Furthermore, significant improvements in satisfaction with robot usage and effectiveness of care were shown after the professional monitoring for six months (p<.05). In particular, the interest, performance, and satisfaction regarding the cognitive program were higher compared to other programs, and they significantly improved even after six months monitoring period (p<.05). Conclusion : This study confirmed that IoT-based AI robots are effective for the care of children with developmental disabilities. To maximize these effects, we suggest that professional management and supervision by occupational therapists be needed. It is guessed that education and management of using AI robots for people with disability could become a new role for occupational therapists in community-based occupational therapy.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to confirm the effects of LSVT-BIG group intervention on physical function and quality of life in the elderly. As a new intervention method for the elderly in the community, we tried to confirm the possibility of clinical application. Methods : LSVT-BIG group intervention was applied to 7 elderly people twice a week for 8 weeks, a total of 16 sessions, 1 hour per session. The box and block test(BBT), Time up and go(TUG), and The geriatric quality of life scale(GQOL) were used to compare changes before and after intervention. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and Wilcoxon signed rank test. Results : LSVT-BIG group intervention before and after application physical function improved. BBT scores increased in both upper extremities, hand coordination and Upper extremity dexterity were improved (p<05). TUG performance time was reduced compared to before intervention, and gait and balance improved (p<05). The GQOL score increased compared to before intervention, improving quality of life (p<05). Conclusion : The LSVT-BIG group intervention can be used as an approach for health management for the elderly in the community. Continuous research is needed to verify the effectiveness of the LSVT-BIG group intervention in various community fields.

Objective : This study investigated the effect of action of health promotion and engagement meaningful activity on occupational balance of college students major in occupational therapy. Methods : A survey of 198 occupational therapy college students was conducted from December 2022 to May 2023. In order to confirm each variable Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile (HPLP), Korean version of the Engagement Meaningful Activity Survey (K-EMAS), and Occupational Balance Questionnaire-Korean (OBQ-K) were used. Pearson correlation coefficient was used for the correlation of each variable for data analysis, and multiple regression analysis was used to find out the effect of action of health promotion and engagement meaningful activity on occupational balance. Results : The action of health promotion of occupational therapy college students was found to have the highest reliance of others, followed by self realization. Each variable had a significant positive correlation. The action of health promotion explained the level of occupational balance by 43.2%, and it was found that self realization and reliance of others had influence on occupational balance. Engagement meaningful activity explained the level of occupational balance by 58.9%, and the usefulness of social activities and exhibition of individual ability had influence on occupational balance. Conclusion : It was confirmed that the occupational balance of students who practice self realization and exhibition of individual ability well, maintain a comfortable relationship with others, and participate in social activities where they can provide help is high. As a result, this study presented factors to improve the occupational balance of college students.

Objective : The purposes of this study were to compose items about the quality of life for family caregviers of people with dementia and to develop an instrument to assess the quality of life for the family caregiver of people with dementia by verifying its validity and reliability through Rasch analysis. Methods : Data were collected from families of people with dementia who got diagnosed with dementia from March 16, 2022, to November 4, 2022, and a set of 26 items that assess the quality of life for the family of people with dementia was used to collect data. SPSS 29.0 version was utilized to analyze general characteristics and exploratory factors of subjects the family of people with dementia. Rasch analysis was conducted through Winstep 3.80.1 to analyze construct validity and separation reliability of the quality of life for family caregiver of people with dementia. Results : In appropriateness analysis using Rasch analysis, 13 among 155 subjects were found to not fit, and 3 out of 26 items were also found to not fit. Items that demonstrated high difficulty were item 25 with a logit score of 1.07, item 20 with a logit score of 1.01, and item 6 with a logit score of 0.96 in that order. Items that demonstrated low difficulty were item 15 with a logit score of –2.13 and item 22 with a logit score of -0.92 in that order. Analysis of the rating scale indicated that the three-point scale was the most appropriate one. Analysis of separation reliability demonstrated that both subject and item separation reliability are high at 0.92 for subject separation reliability with a separation index of 3.47, and 0.97 for item separation reliability with a separation index of 5.87. Analysis of exploratory factors placed overall health, daily life, work and other activities, and pressure and stress at the bottom panel. Conclusion : The assessment instrument on quality of life for the family caregivers of people with dementia developed in this study is expected to be a tool for the family of people with dementia to assess their quality of life by themselves and to be a precursory guideline to prevent further decrease in quality of life.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to examine how the guardian's illness perceptions in charge of caring for the elderly with disabilities affects the caregiving appraisal through questionnaire analysis and to provide basic data on the education program for the elderly with disabilities. Methods : From december 2022 to february 2023, the SPSS WIN 21.0 program was used for 172 guardians of the elderly with disabilities using facilities for the elderly with disabilities, setting independent variables as illness perceptions, dependent variables as care evaluation, and control variables as general characteristics of the elderly with disabilities. Resutls : First, there was a significant difference in the caregiving appraisal of guardians of the elderly with disabilities. Second, in the correlation analysis between illness perception and caregiving appraisal of guardians of the elderly with disabilities, there was a static correlation in all areas except for the burden of awareness and illness perceptions. Third, it showed that illness perceptions of disabled elderly guardians had effect caregiving appraisal on the degree and duration of disability, age of guardians and economic level of disabled elderly guardians, cognitive illness perceptions, and emotional illness perceptions. Conclusion : The guardian’s care of the elderly with disabilities is influenced by many factors and has a negative experience. However, through the illness perceptions of the guardian, basic data were provided to find ways to minimize negative experiences and maximize positive effects, and the need for healing and educational programs for guardians of the elderly with disabilities was found.

Objective : This study aimed to analyze changes in time use and leisure·life satisfaction by occupational area according to the aging of the elderly using the 2019 Living Time Survey data of the Korean Statistical Information Service. Methods : Those aged over 65 who responded to leisure and life satisfaction were extracted, excluding those who did not respond to the unemployed reason. The data of 7384 elderly people were analyzed. Occupational areas were classified using the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework–Fourth Edition, and the changes in time use and satisfaction according to aging were analyzed by dividing them into 65-74, 75-84, and 85 or loder. Results : As a resulf of analyzing the amount of time used by occupational area, the most time was used for rest and sleep, and the least time was used for education. With aging, the time used for Instrumental Activities of Daily Living decreased, while the time used for rest and sleep, and leisure increased. As a result of analyzing satisfaction, life satisfaction and leisure satisfaction were the highest among those aged 85 or older. Conclusion : With aging, time for outdoor and dynamic activities decreased, and time for indoor activities, rest and sleep, and leisure increased. It will be possible to maintain the occupational balance and achieve healthy aging by checking the status of the elderly’s time use and satisfaction by occupational area.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the level of achievement of essential competencies and job satisfaction on job performance of the occupational therapist. Methods : A survey was conducted on the level of essential competency achievement, job satisfaction, and job performance for occupational therapists who currently have an occupational therapist license and voluntarily agreed to the purpose of the study. The study period was conducted from October 19 to November 7, 2021 using an online survey service. There was no insufficient omission of response. Therefore, all 109 survey results were used for data analysis, and frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation and multiple regression analysis were performed. Results : There was a significant correlation between the level of achievement of essential competencies and each detailed area, job satisfaction and job performance. It was found that the level of achievement of essential competency affected job performance, job satisfaction affected job performance, respectively, and the higher the level of essential competency achievement and job satisfaction, the higher the job performance of occupational therapists. Conclusion : The results of this study, it was confirmed that the level of achievement of essential competencies and job satisfaction were important variables influencing job performance of occupational therapists. Therefore, in order to improve the job performance of occupational therapists who play an important role in the field of rehabilitation, it is necessary to prepare programs and plans to increase the level of achievement of essential competency and job satisfaction, and a better working environment system.

Objective : This study aims to find out the effects of chronic diseases in wage-earning disabled people on self-efficacy, disability acceptance, and job satisfaction. Methods : 1580 persons with disabilities in wage employment were extracted using the 6-dimensional data of the 2nd wave of the Employment Panel for Persons with Disabilities. The subjects' demographic characteristics, chronic diseases, self-efficacy, disability acceptance, and job satisfaction were investigated and analyzed. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, Pearson's correlation analysis, and replication analysis. Results : Self-efficacy, acceptance of disability, and job satisfaction according to chronic disease status of wage earners with disabilities were higher in the obesity disease group than the chronic disease group. There was a significant difference in job satisfaction in the two groups, and there was a positive correlation between perception of disability, self-efficacy, and job satisfaction in the chronic disease group, but no correlation between self-efficacy and job satisfaction. Effect of chronic disease and disability acceptance on job satisfaction had a 4% explanatory power, and it was confirmed that chronic disease(ß=.07) and disability awareness(ß=.16) were factors influencing job satisfaction of wage earners with disabilities. Conclusion : It is believed that continuous education and management are needed for the management of chronic diseases other than disabilities of wage-earning disabled people, and education for the prevention of chronic diseases is also needed.
